In a remarkable stride towards improving rural healthcare, SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), through its Bolani Ore Mines under the Odisha Group of Mines, has successfully extended quality medical services to more than 1000 villagers in April 2025 alone through its Mobile Health Care Unit.
The healthcare outreach is being systematically implemented across seven villages in Bolani Gram Panchayat and eleven villages in Palagoda Gram Panchayat. These villages have been the focus of regular health camps where patients are medically examined and provided with free medicines, significantly improving healthcare access in these underserved areas.
The Mobile Medical Unit was rolled out following a MoU signed between SAIL-RSP and Piramal Swasthya Management and Research Institute (PMSRI) on 26th October 2024. Ever since its launch in December 2024 as ‘Gramin Swasthya Sanjeevani’, the MMU has benefited 5284 villagers, delivering preventive, curative and referral healthcare services completely free of cost.
Fully equipped with a doctor, healthcare staff, diagnostic tools, IT systems and medical supplies, the van is a mobile lifeline traveling through remote villages to address day-to-day health concerns and promote early diagnosis.
