The Public Health Unit of Town Engineering Department of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant has been actively involved in creating widespread awareness on health, hygiene, sanitation and cleanliness to mark the ongoing Swachhata Pakhwada observation both in the township and in the Plant. To instil the culture of health, hygiene and sanitation in the young minds school children are being engaged to create Swachhata awareness in the locality.
On 25th September the students of Delhi Public School, Sector – 14 in collaboration with the Public Health Unit, presented an exhilarating Street Play under the banner ‘Swachhata hi Seva’ near Ispat Central Market. A large number of spectators gathered to witness the play and encourage the students. The play focused on waste management through proper garbage disposal, health risks associated with open defecation, devastating effects of single use plastic on aquatic and terrestrial ecosystem and the importance of healthy hygiene practices to combat vector-borne diseases like dengue and malaria.
The play was coordinated by the school authorities and the Public Health Unit led by Ms. Deepa Lavangare, Deputy CMO (TE- Public Health).
