SAIL Rourkela Steel Plant registers impressive performance in key areas in first 11 months of current fiscal

SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), showcased an impressive performance in key production areas during the first eleven months of the current financial year 2024-25 (April-February 2025). The Blast Furnace-1 (BF-1) and Blast Furnace-5 (BF-5) produced record-breaking 9,13,292 tons and 28,47,561 tons of Hot Metal respectively, marking their best-ever April-February performance. BF-5 registered a growth of 8.9% over the Corresponding Period Last Year (CPLY). The state-of-the-art Hot Strip Mill-2 rolled 19,58,063 tons of total Hot Rolled Coils, setting a new record for its best April-February performance with a growth of 8.3% over CPLY. The Sheet Shearing Line (SSL) also produced 2,39,402 tons to register its best ever April-February performance. Simultaneously, the New Plate Mill  recorded its best April-February performance by producing 8,43,856 tons of plates.

 

Similarly, the Sinter Plant-III produced 33,82,691 tons of sinter to record its best first eleven months production thereby improving upon its earlier best performance of 33,77,805 tons achieved in April-February of 2022-23.

Many units of the Steel Plant fulfilled APP targets in February, 2025 while BF-5 recorded best February production tapping 2,47,594 tons of Hot Metal. HSM-2 also clocked best February production rolling 2,14,690 tons of HR coils while SSL registered its Best February performance producing 28,043 tons of HR Sheets.

It is noteworthy that the Steel Plant is focusing on the capacity utilization of the major units while giving thrust on enhancing productivity and reducing cost of production to meet the emerging challenges in the steel market.
