SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant organises innovative Safety Awareness Programme with ‘Mobile Demo Van’ 

SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) organized a unique and impactful safety awareness programme, featuring a specially designed ‘Mobile Demo Van’ equipped with the latest personal protective equipments (PPE). The event was inaugurated by Mr. S. R. Suryawanshi, Executive Director (Works), in the presence of Mrs. Asha Kartha, CGM (Safety & Fire Services) on 20th August, 2024. Many other CGMs and Senior Officers of the plant were present on the occasion. The ED (Works) went around the exhibits in the Demo Van and witnessed the live demo of varied safety appliances. He stressed the importance of increasing awareness about the correct usage of PPEs among employees and contract labor, expressing confidence that the initiative would significantly bolster the plant’s safety culture and support RSP’s goal of becoming a zero-harm facility. Mrs. Asha Kartha highlighted the importance of the daylong event in promoting safety practices.

It is noteworthy that employees as well as contract labor from different departments visited the ‘Mobile Demo Van’ stationed at the Safety Engineering Department. It showcased live demonstrations of a wide range of safety products, including Fall Protection Equipment & Fixed line system (Vertical & Horizontal Line), Head Protection, Latest Foot Protection Products, Safety Spectacles, Hearing Protection, Wide range of Hand Protection, Coverall Body Protection, Respiratory Protection (Organic Vapor Mask), Newly launched field block, Emergency evacuation & self-rescue system, Confined Spaces entry and exit solution (Davit Arm) and many more.  Expert safety personnel were present to explain the advanced safety solutions and address visitors’ queries in detail. The programme was coordinated by the Safety Engineering Department.
