The 155th Birth Anniversary of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, was celebrated at Tensa by the Barsua and Taldihi Iron Mines of Odisha Group of Mines of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant on 2nd October. Mr. P.C. Barua, GM (Mines) presided over the function. Present on the occasion were Mr. N.C. Panda, GM ( HR- BIM, TIM, KIM) and Mr. Ullastigga, AC (CISF). The function was attended by several senior officers, union representatives, workers, CISF personnel and school students.
The programme commenced with the garlanding of the portraits of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister of India, Lal Bahadur Sashtri, whose birth anniversary also falls on the same day.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Barua reflected on the ideals and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi, emphasizing upon his message of peace, cleanliness, and service to society.
Mr. N C Panda emphasized upon the importance of cleanliness and social responsibility and urged all to uphold the values of the great leaders of the nation.
Several participants, including union representatives and students, shared their insights on the legacy of Gandhiji and Shastriji, stressing the importance of maintaining cleanliness and upholding their values.
To mark the occasion, a mass cleanliness drive was conducted in Tensa Township. Executives, workers, CISF personnel, students, and local residents actively participated in the program, contributing to the upkeep of their surroundings.
