Infusing creativity, camaraderie and celebration into the run-up to International Women’s Day, a vibrant Master Chef Competition was organised at the Central Power Training Institute (CPTI) of Rourkela Steel Plant on 20th and 21st February 2026.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from employees and their spouses, with each team comprising at least one female member, thereby adding a warm family touch to the occasion. The competition unfolded in two exciting rounds, reflecting both artistic presentation and culinary expertise.
The preliminary round featured an engaging Salad Decoration Challenge, where 16 teams showcased their creativity within a brisk preparation time of 30 minutes. Participants impressed the judges with their innovative designs, vibrant arrangements and aesthetic flair. Based on presentation, originality and overall appeal, five teams advanced to the final round.
The grand finale, held on 21st February, tested the culinary finesse of the finalists as they prepared the classic Gajar ka Halwa within one hour. The contestants demonstrated exceptional skill, flavour balance and presentation, turning a traditional delicacy into a delightful gourmet experience.
The event was judged by Ms. Malavika Sahoo, Ms. Sarika Kumar, and, Ms. Bibha Sinha, who appreciated the participants for their enthusiasm, teamwork and creativity.
The Master Chef Competition formed part of a broader series of programmes organised to celebrate the spirit, achievements and contributions of women. Beyond the culinary contest, the event strengthened bonds within the RSP fraternity, fostering togetherness, mutual appreciation and collective participation in a festive and inclusive atmosphere.
