BENGALURU: Shri Ravi K has officially taken charge as the 22nd Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of defence PSU Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), succeeding DK Sunil following his superannuation on April 30. A Mechanical Engineering graduate from Malnad College of Engineering with advanced management and aerospace training from IIM Ahmedabad and the Institut Aéronautique et Spatial in France, Ravi K brings over 30 years of deep expertise in the aerospace and defence sectors. Previously serving as Director (Operations), he has been a pivotal figure in HAL’s strategic growth, notably contributing to the company achieving its prestigious Maharatna status.
Throughout his career, including tenures as Executive Director and General Manager of the LCA Tejas division, Ravi K has been instrumental in securing and operationalizing historic contracts, such as the supply of 180 LCA Tejas aircraft and 156 LCH Prachand helicopters. He is widely credited with boosting fleet serviceability through customer-centric initiatives, establishing seamless data communication with IAF bases, and implementing a successful outsourcing strategy for fuselage assemblies with private sector partners. Under his guidance, HAL has expanded its production capacity in Nasik and significantly increased indigenous content, ensuring the company remains at the forefront of India’s aerospace manufacturing excellence.
