- Ramana Reddy, former Managing Director of the New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP), has been awarded the prestigious Hydro Ratna award for his exceptional contributions to the promotion of Pumped Storage Power (PSP) projects in Andhra Pradesh. The award was presented by ENERTIA and the Renewable Energy Promotion Association of India (REPA) in recognition of Reddy’s visionary leadership and pivotal role in advancing the renewable energy sector.
The award ceremony, chaired by Ajai Mishra, IAS (Retd.), former Secretary of Energy, took place alongside the release of a white paper on the potential and current status of PSP projects in India. The white paper emphasized the importance of PSP projects in addressing the nation’s energy storage needs and provided an overview of the current landscape of PSP development across the country.
Under Reddy’s leadership at NREDCAP, a pipeline of 39 PSP projects was identified and developed in Andhra Pradesh.
