NEW DELHI: Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) and Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University) signed a MoU for the establishment of the “POWERGRID Centre of Excellence” at PEC, aimed at advancing research and innovation in the power and energy sector.
The MoU was signed by Tarun Bajaj, Executive Director (Northern Region-II), POWERGRID, and Prof Rajesh Kumar Bhatia, Director (ad-interim), PEC, in the presence of UT Chief Secretary Rajeev Verma, Ravinder Kumar Tyagi, CMD , POWERGRID, and Prerna Puri, Secretary Education, UT. Speaking at the event, Rajeev Verma lauded the initiative as a vital step in nation-building through academia-industry collaboration and highlighted its alignment with India’s vision of achieving energy security and a net-zero emission future under Viksit Bharat. The upcoming centre, being established at a cost of ₹17.19 crore under POWERGRID’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), will offer cutting-edge infrastructure and hands-on training in domains such as numerical relays, inverters, cybersecurity, and e-mobility, benefiting undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students.
