Power Grid Corporation of India Limited has acquired “Bhadla-III & Bikaner-III Transmission Limited”, the Project Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for the Transmission System Project for System Strengthening for interconnections of Bhadla-III & Bikaner-III Complex. It was acquired from the PFC Consulting Limited (PFCCL) (Bid Process Coordinator) after competing with various private sector players and emerging as successful bidder in Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process.. The transmission system is an Inter State Transmission System
Project and is to be commissioned in 24 months.
This high-capacity tie interconnection between Bhadla-III and Bikaner-III PS shall provide flexibility of power transfer from Bhadla/Bikaner RE clusters as well as increase resiliency of transmission corridor in both the complexes. Further, the aforementioned project shall also help in meeting additional evacuation requirement from Bhadla-III PS onwards for some RE generators coming up in the future years.
POWERGRID, through its various Projects SPVs which have been acquired through tariff bidding route, is implementing various Transmission System Projects being constructed on build, own, operate and transfer (BOOT) basis. These Projects will augment the Indian transmission infrastructure to evacuate Green Energy to the National Grid thereby reducing dependency on fossil fuels, in line with Government of India’s vision of achieving 500 GW renewable energy target by year 2030.
As on 31 st July 2024, POWERGRID has commissioned and is operating 278 Sub-stations and more than 1,77,790 ckm transmission lines and 532,446 MVA of transformation capacity.
