NEW DELHI. Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Chokhone Krichena, popularly known as the ‘Flower Lady of Manipur’, during the latest episode of *Mann Ki Baat*. He highlighted her inspiring journey of combining traditional farming knowledge with a modern entrepreneurial vision to promote floriculture in Manipur’s Senapati district. In 2021, Chokhone founded Dianthe Private Limited, a floriculture enterprise focused on cultivating and marketing decorative flowers, moving beyond her family’s conventional hill farming practices. By collaborating closely with women farmers from the region, she has created sustainable livelihood opportunities and strengthened local communities. Today, flowers grown under her initiative are supplied to several Indian states. The Prime Minister lauded her efforts as a powerful example of grassroots innovation driving economic progress.
