The Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi formally dedicated the state-of-the-art Advanced Night Vision Products Factory established by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a Navratna Defence PSU, at Nimmaluru in Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh, with an investment of approximately Rs. 362 crore. Attended by prominent leaders including Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu, Governor Shri S Abdul Nazeer, and Deputy Chief Minister Shri Pawan Kalyan, along with BEL CMD Shri Manoj Jain and GM Shri Jitendra Singh, the facility marks a significant milestone in India’s defense manufacturing. Spanning 50 acres, the plant specializes in producing electro-optical systems such as Image Intensifiers, Thermal Imaging Systems, Infrared Seekers for indigenously developed missiles, and anti-drone systems, enhancing night-time operational capabilities for the Indian armed forces. Designed with Industry 4.0 principles, it integrates advanced manufacturing processes to boost productivity, reduce lead times, and foster skilled employment, thereby strengthening India’s self-reliance in defense technology.
It has a Clean Room area of 5,800 Sqm, a critical feature for ensuring a contamination-free environment for the assembly and testing of sensitive opto-electronic components.
This expansion represents a significant step forward in BEL’s efforts to become a global leader in opto-electronics, particularly in the development of next-generation night vision technologies that are essential for modern defence forces.
