NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the third high-level meeting with Secretaries to the Government of India and reviewed the future action agenda of Ministries and Departments handling infrastructure and connectivity, security, external affairs and governance. Emphasising a long-term perspective, the Prime Minister called for greater interoperability and effective use of data, describing data as a national asset and highlighting the need to break organisational silos through a change in mindset.
He also stressed stronger coordination among government departments, universities and young people to bring fresh ideas into policymaking, while urging officials to strengthen India’s defence industry and enhance its global competitiveness. Underscoring lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic and the West Asia crisis, he advocated making effective coordination a natural part of government functioning and encouraged the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence with human oversight. The Prime Minister concluded by calling for collective ownership, innovative thinking and a whole-of-government approach to address complex challenges and shape India’s future.
