The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has not found a suitable candidate for the post of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of SJVN Limited at a selection meeting held on December 5, 2025, in New Delhi. After interviewing the shortlisted candidates, PESB decided not to recommend any name and advised the Administrative Ministry or Department to determine an appropriate course of action, including selection through a search-cum-selection committee (SCSC) with the approval of the competent authority. PESB had invited applications for the post on September 17, 2025, as the CMD position has been vacant since June 20, 2025. Currently, Shri Bhupender Gupta, CMD of NHPC Limited, is holding additional charge of SJVN Limited. The candidates interviewed included Shri Prem Prakash Srivastava, Senior General Manager (HR/A), UP (West) Circle, BSNL, and Shri Ali Shah, Executive Director (Entity Appraisal-II).
