MUMBAI: Shri P. A. Suresh Babu, a senior scientist from the Department of Atomic Energy, has taken charge as Chairman and Managing Director of BHAVINI Limited, which operates India’s 500 MW Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor at Kalpakkam. He also serves as Director (HR) at Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited and has over 37 years of experience in the nuclear sector.
He has contributed significantly to the development of pressurised heavy water and pressurised water reactors in India. A mechanical engineering graduate from Government Engineering College, Thrissur, he joined BARC Training School in 1989 and worked at Madras Atomic Power Station for 14 years. He later held key roles at the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project, including Station Director.
In February 2022, he was appointed Director at Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited, a role he held until this appointment. His tenure as CMD of BHAVINI Limited will be for three years.
