In the grand Samman Samaroh organized by Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) at the Civic Centre to mark the 78th Independence Day of the country, 12 former employees, who had joined the Steel Plant in the year 1960 and contributed in laying a sturdy foundation of RSP were felicitated with the “Ispat Bindhani Samman-2024’. These stalwarts, who planted the seeds of steel in the wild hilly soil of Rourkela in the early 1960s, have seen their efforts flourish into a monumental success, providing sustenance to millions and contributing significantly to the nation’s progress. Mr. Atanu Bhowmick, Director In-charge, RSP felicitated the members of the Team RSP that had sculpted the Shilpa Konark of Odisha.
The felicitated individuals were Mr. R.K. Tripathy, Mr. G.C. Naik, Mr. C.S. Mohapatra, Mr. G.B. Parida, Mr. Umakanta Mahapatra, Mr. Gurucharan Sahoo, Mr. Kishore Chandra Nanda, Mr. Radha Krushna Panda, Mr. R.C. Mohanty, Mr. Arakhita Panigrahi, Mr. G.C. Patnaik and Mr. Durga Charan Mohanty.
Elucidating the contributions of the Ispat Bindhanis, Mr. Bhowmick said, “The RSP that we are having today is standing tall with all its glory and grandeur because of the hard work, dedication and commitment of these elder generations of ours. The legacy of their accomplishments will continue to guide Rourkela Steel Plant into the future.”
Honouring the unwavering spirit of the veterans who built Rourkela Steel Plant has made the independence day a special one.
