India’s first 21 CuM electric shovel commissioned at SECL Gevra

BILASPUR. India’s first 21 CuM capacity electro-hydraulic face shovel has been commissioned at South Eastern Coalfields Limited’s (SECL) Gevra Mega Project in Korba district, Chhattisgarh, marking a significant step towards modernising coal mining operations. SECL Chairman-cum-Managing Director Shri Harish Duhan inaugurated the advanced machine, which is expected to enhance coal production capacity at Gevra, Asia’s largest coal mine, while supporting safer, more efficient and technology-driven mining. Equipped with advanced operator-centric and safety features such as a 360-degree camera, Operator Fatigue Monitoring System, air-suspension seat, adjustable joysticks, hydraulic access stairs, gas-based fire suppression system and a FOPS-compliant safety cabin, the new shovel is set to strengthen operational efficiency and safety standards at the mega project.
