Shri Amrit Lal Meena, Secretary, Coal, while addressing at the “National Seminar 2023 on Washing of Coal – Challenges & Opportunities” stressed on reducing coal imports, increasing washery capacity for coking and non-coking coal, and using cutting-edge technologies to boost coal production. The seminar was organized by the Indian National Committee (IMC) of the World Mining Congress (WMC) at New Delhi.
Shri P.M. Prasad, Chairman, Coal India stressed the need for washeries for both coking and non-coking coal and stated that more washeries would be built in coming years by CIL to assure a continuous supply of high-quality coal.
Dr. B. Veera Reddy, Director (Technical), CIL , said that Coal India Limited is focused on enhancing the capacity of coking coal washeries through setting up new ones, renovating old washeries and also leasing old washeries to the steel sector.
Shri M. Nagaraju, Additional Secretary, Coal, emphasized on tactical investments in research and development, technical optimization, and removing impediments in transport to unlock the full potential of coal washing.
