The Intra Regional Sports Meet (IRSM) – Football 2024-25 kicked off on April 1, 2025, at NTPC Bongaigaon’s Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Stadium, under the enthusiastic inauguration of Shri Arnab Maitra, Business Unit Head. The event aims to cultivate teamwork and camaraderie among employees, featuring four teams from NTPC Bongaigaon (Assam) and three teams from Odisha: NTPC Darlipali, Talcher Thermal, and Talcher Kaniha. Highlights of the opening ceremony included a ceremonial march past, the lighting of the torch by team captains, and the unveiling of the tournament mascot “Puhor,” symbolizing the region’s cultural heritage.
Thrilling Opening Matches and Cultural Celebrations
The tournament commenced with an exciting start, as NTPC Bongaigaon triumphed over NTPC Darlipali with a decisive 6-0 victory, followed by NTPC Talcher Kaniha’s extraordinary 17-0 win against NTPC Talcher Thermal. This round-robin event not only emphasizes competitive spirit but also celebrates local culture with traditional performances, including a Bagurumba dance, showcasing the region’s rich heritage. The grand finale of the tournament is set for April 5, 2025, promising more thrilling matches and community engagement.
