As a new green initiative and in a significant step forward for environmental consciousness, the Calcining Plant-2 (CP-2) collective of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has developed a beautiful garden ‘Chunam Vatika’ at the department. The in-house developed garden was recently inaugurated by Mr. T P Sivsankar, CGM (SMS-2) in the presence of Mr. M. G. Srikant, CGM, SMS-II and Mr. R K Dharua, GM In Charge, CP-2. The inauguration was attended by representatives from various sister departments including Refractory, Instrumentation, SMS-II, Safety, and Civil Engineering Services Department.
In his address, Mr. Sivsankar appreciated the effort and emphasized the critical importance of suppressing lime dust at the Calcining Plant, noting that it is not only a statutory requirement but also a key environmental indicator monitored closely by the Pollution Control Board of Odisha. The condition of Chunam Vatika will itself reflect the pollution levels at CP-2, he added.
Chunam Vatika stands as a symbol of CP-2’s commitment to sustainability, in-house innovation, and the integration of ecological responsibility with workplace wellness.
