NEW DELHI. India has achieved a major milestone in the Global Cooperative Rankings 2025, securing the top position worldwide. According to the World Cooperative Monitor released by the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA), IFFCO (Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited) has been ranked No. 1 globally, while Amul has secured the No. 2 position. The rankings are based on the metric of turnover over GDP per capita, reflecting the strong performance of Indian cooperatives relative to their national economic context. This recognition underscores the leadership of IFFCO in serving millions of farmers and its continued contribution to strengthening agricultural productivity.
Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah congratulated both organisations, calling it a proud moment for India’s cooperative movement. The Ministry of Cooperation also appreciated the achievement, noting that the success of IFFCO and Amul highlights the growing global impact of Indian cooperatives. The World Cooperative Monitor 2025, compiled by the ICA, reaffirms IFFCO’s position as a global leader in the cooperative sector and marks a significant moment of recognition for India’s cooperative ecosystem.
