ICICI Bank and Tata Memorial Centre Break Ground on State-of-the-Art Cancer Care Facility in Visakhapatnam

VIZAG. ICICI Bank, in collaboration with Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), has begun construction of a new, advanced cancer care facility at the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (HBCHRC) in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. With an investment of over ?550 crore, the nearly 3.9 lakh square foot, eight-storied ICICI Foundation Block for Child and Blood Cancer aims to significantly enhance cancer treatment in the region. Once completed by 2027, this state-of-the-art hospital will feature over 215 beds and serve approximately 3,000 patients annually, expanding the current capacity of HBCHRC to better address the rising demand for specialized cancer care in Eastern India.

The new facility is designed to be one of the largest specialized cancer centers in the eastern corridor, equipped with cutting-edge medical technology and research wings. The project was marked by the unveiling of the foundation stone by Mr. Pradeep Kumar Sinha, Chairman of ICICI Bank, in the presence of key dignitaries including Mr. Sandeep Batra, Executive Director of ICICI Bank, and Dr. Sudeep Gupta, Director of TMC Mumbai. Additionally, ICICI Bank’s CSR arm, ICICI Foundation for Inclusive Growth, also inaugurated the N.K. Rao Auditorium at the hospital, further supporting TMC’s infrastructure and research capabilities.

ICICI Bank’s commitment to healthcare extends beyond infrastructure, with a total planned investment of Rs.1,800 crore across three major blocks at TMC’s centres in Visakhapatnam, Navi Mumbai, and New Chandigarh. This initiative will provide comprehensive treatment options, including multiple LINACs, bone marrow transplants, immunotherapy, and expanded research opportunities. Dr. Umesh Mahantshetty of HBCHRC and Dr. Girish Chinnaswamy of TMC highlighted the importance of this partnership in improving pediatric and hematolymphoid cancer care, emphasizing its potential to transform cancer outcomes and research in the region.
