GAIL Stays Resilient Amid Global Triggers, Steps Up Energy Transition with Mega Pipe Expansion and Green Push

NEW DELHI: GAIL (India) Limited has delivered a robust operational and financial performance for the financial year, successfully navigating a volatile global energy market triggered by the prolonged Russia-Ukraine conflict and escalating geopolitical tensions in West Asia.

GAIL energy transition pipeline expansion FY26Speaking on the company’s performance, Shri Deepak Gupta, Chairman & Managing Director, GAIL, credited the resilience to timely policy interventions by the Government of India alongside the company’s internal focus on cost discipline and supply reliability.

Infrastructure and Transmission Milestones

Despite severe global headwinds, the state-run energy major expanded its core footprint by adding approximately 2,000 km to its natural gas pipeline network. The company also recorded its highest-ever Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) transmission volume of 4.6 MMTPA (Million Metric Tonnes Per Annum).

To cater to growing domestic demand, GAIL has commenced work to double the capacity of the strategic Jamnagar-Loni LPG pipeline, scaling it up significantly to 6.5 MMTPA.

Aggressive Clean Energy & Strategy 2030 Roadmap

In alignment with India’s net-zero commitments and the company’s corporate “Strategy 2030,” GAIL is aggressively pivoting toward green energy transition. The GAIL Board has officially approved investment outlays for major renewable energy installations, which include approximately 700 MW of solar power and 178 MW of wind energy capacity.

Furthermore, the company is diving deep into the bio-fuels space, green-lighting the construction of 6 Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) plants. These plants will boast a combined production capacity of around 95 TPD (Tonnes Per Day), cementing GAIL’s focus on long-term sustainability and low-carbon growth.
