KOLKATA: Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister for Coal and Mines, virtually inaugurated six Coal NEER water treatment plants across key Coal India Limited subsidiaries—including Central Coalfields, Mahanadi Coalfields, South Eastern Coalfields, and Bharat Coking Coal—to convert mine discharge water into safe, potable drinking water for nearby communities. Attended by Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State Satish Chandra Dubey, Coal India Chairman B. Sairam, Coal Secretary Vikram Dev Dutt, and international dignitaries, the occasion also featured the signing of two landmark tripartite Memorandums of Understanding. Signed between Bharat Coking Coal Limited, the Jharia Rehabilitation and Development Authority, and partners Hindalco Industries and Rajdhani Universal Fabrics, these agreements will establish a vocational training center and a textile manufacturing unit to foster sustainable skill development and employment for families rehabilitated under the Jharia Master Plan.
