VISAKHAPATNAM. Civil Aviation Minister K Ram Mohan Naidu announced that India is witnessing an extraordinary pace of airport development, with a new airport opening approximately every 50 days — a feat he described as unprecedented globally. Addressing the 30th edition of the two-day CII Partnership Summit-2025, Naidu highlighted that the rapid expansion has significantly enhanced passenger capacity and aviation infrastructure across the country. Currently, Andhra Pradesh boasts seven operational airports, with an equal number of aerodromes under development in the state, reflecting the government’s commitment to boosting regional connectivity.
Naidu also shared that Andhra Pradesh is set to become a hub for aviation training and innovation, with four flight-training organizations arriving in the state, alongside the establishment of an MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) ecosystem and an aviation skilling university in Visakhapatnam. The state’s ambitious plans include expanding the drone sector by creating a dedicated drone city, as well as advancing aerospace and aircraft manufacturing industries, underscoring its strategic focus on becoming a key player in India’s aerospace future.
