ERW Pipe Plant of SAIL RSP registers new record for Single shift &  Day's Production of ERW pipes 

The Pipe Plant-ERW of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has established a new record for single shift & day production of ERW pipes on 23rd September, 2024. The PP(ERW) unit  produced  607 tonnes of pipes in a single day, thereby surpassing the earlier best figure of 575 tonnes achieved on 15th October, 2023. The unit also achieved the record passing of 469 Tonnes of ERW pipes on the same day. The Mill also clocked the best ever shift production of 311 tonnes in the A Shift on 23rd September, 2024. It is noteworthy that the pioneering pipe-making unit commenced its journey 63 years ago on October 15, 1960, by producing its first pipe.

Mr. S R Suryawanshi, ED (Works) visited ERW Pipe Plant on 25th September to congratulate the PP(ERW) collective. He held a meeting with the Senior Officers and employees of the department at the Pipe Plant (ERW) Conference Hall.

Congratulating the collective over the record breaking performance, the ED (Works) said, “The recent outstanding performances of the Pipe Plants exemplify the potential of the team. Let’s also focus on enhancing profitability through value addition while increasing our production volume.” He emphasized the importance of maintaining the plant’s efficiency to cater to a niche market with products of the highest quality adhering to the highest safety standards.

It is noteworthy that the feat has been achieved through concerted efforts of the pipe plant collective with well coordinated support from Production Planning & Control, Research & Control Lab, Hot Strip Mills, Traffic & Raw Materials Department and all other associated agencies.

Mr. M.U Laskar, GM In-charge (Pipe Plants) thanked the top management for their able guidance and assured them that the department will make relentless efforts to stand up to the expectations.

Mr. Avinash Choudhary, GM (Pipe Plant) coordinated the programme.
