Ispat Kalakar Niwas: A new Cultural Hub for Rourkela inaugurated by SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant

In a significant step towards enhancing the cultural vibrancy of Rourkela, Ispat Kalakar Niwas, a new Cultural Hub for Rourkela built at Sector-4 by SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant was inaugurated on 24th September, 2024 by Mr. S R Suryawanshi, ED (Works). Present on the occasion were Mr. P K Swain, CGM In-Charge, (TA&CSR), Mr. Anil Kumar, CGM In-Charge (MM), Mr. B K Jojo, CGM (TE & Horticulture) and other senior officers of the Plant. This newly constructed facility, built at an expenditure of Rs.48 lakhs, aims to provide accommodation and essential amenities to artists and visitors from across the country who frequently visits Rourkela to participate in the colourful cultural events.

The Ispat Kalakar Niwas offers a range of well-designed facilities to ensure a comfortable stay for its guests. The building covers a plinth area of 6,628 square feet and sits on a plot area of 13,825 square feet. It includes a total of nine rooms, with three rooms having attached toilets. Additionally, there are common toilets available for use. The facility also features a spacious living area, garage, vehicle shed and rooms for housekeeping staff and security guard. The building is complemented by a front portico and a beautifully maintained front lawn, offering a welcoming and aesthetically pleasing environment for its guests.

Cultural Hub for Rourkela

The spacious and well-equipped Ispat Kalakar Niwas is designed to offer a comfortable and convenient stay for artists, performers, and other visitors. Notably, Rourkela has long been a hub for culture, hosting number of music, drama and dance festivals round the year.  These events, organized with the support of Rourkela Steel Plant and local cultural organizations, draw artists from all over India. With the inauguration of Ispat Kalakar Niwas, visiting artists will now have access to a dedicated space, ensuring their stay in Rourkela is as enriching and comfortable as possible.
