As a part of the Monthly Safety Theme observation, a Safety Awareness Programme followed by a Quiz Competition on Electrical Safety was organised at Power Distribution Department of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) on 12th July, 2025. The event aimed at enhancing awareness and reinforcing a proactive safety culture among employees.
The programme was graced by the presence of Mrs. Asha S Kartha, CGM (Safety and Fire Services), Mr. Suvendu Kumar Behera, GM& HoD (Power Distribution), and Mr. G.B. Mishra, GM (Power Distribution). The dignitaries addressed the gathering and stressed the significance of electrical safety in everyday operations. They shared insights from past incidents and urged all present to adopt safe practices and remain alert at all times.
Mr. T.N. Mishra, Deputy Manager (Power Distribution) presented a self-composed poem on Electrical Safety, which conveyed the dangers of electrical hazards and the importance of precautionary measures during the event.
A brief awareness session was conducted by Mr. Nilakanth Sethi, Deputy Manager, (Safety Engineering Department). He shared several real-life incident cases and underlined the importance of drawing lessons from the past to prevent future mishaps.
A total of 44 employees of Power Distribution, AC, HM (E), and Repair Shop Electrical departments took part in the quiz competition.
Mrs. Shanti Kumari, GM (Power Distribution) proposed the vote of thanks. The entire programme was held under the guidance of Mr. R K Muduli, CGM (Electrical) and was coordinated by Mr. Dolagovinda Sethi, Senior Manager, DSO (Power Distribution) and Mr. Ritesh Kumar Patel, Assistant Manager (SED).
