The ED (Works) Skill Excellence Awards were presented to 24 employees of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) who excelled in the competitions organised in eight different trades like Hydraulics Technician, Turner, Welder, Fitter, Electrician, Electronics Mechanics, Instrument Mechanic and COPA. Mr. S S Roychoudhury, CGM (Maintenance), Mr. R N Rajendran, CGM (Mechanical), Mr. R K Muduli, CGM (Electrical) and Mr. P K Sahoo, CGM (MS & HR-L&D) presented the awards to the employees in a function organised in Gopabandhu Auditorium at L & D Department on 25th January, 2025. Several Senior Officers and all the participants of the competition were also present on the occasion. The award winners were presented with a Trophy, a Certificate of Merit and a Cheque.
The Senior Officers congratulated the award winners and the other participants for contributing in the enhancement of production and performance of the plant.
In the Hydraulics Technician category, Mr. Amar Kumar Bhuyan, Technician, SMS-I (Mechanical), Mr. Saumyasri D Tudu, OCT, SMS-I (Mechanical) and Mr. Subhasish Panda, OCT, New Plate Mill were the first, second and third prize winners respectively.
Similarly in the turner trade the first, second and third prize winners were Mr. Chhatray Tudu, Technician, Blast Furnace, Mr. Amar Kumar Bhuyan, Technician, SMS-I (Mechanical), and Mr. Ambuja Kumar Rout, Senior Technician , Shops (S&F),
In Welder Trade Mr. Dileswar Mahanta, Master Techncian, Blast Furnaces, Mr. Jitendra Kumar Bishwal, Technician, New Plate Mill and Mr. Santosh Kumar Dash, Operator (Cranmes) were the top three winners.
The first three prize winners in the fitter trade were Mr. P K Khantua, Master Technician, Blast Furnaces, Mr. Trinath Barik, Technician, SMS-I and Mr. Sumon Mondal, ACT (T), CPP-I.
Mr. Akshybar Sharma, OCT, Power Distribution, Mr. Rajesh Mondal, OCT, SMS – I and Mr. Abhay Kumar Das, MOMT, SMS-II bagged the first three awards in Electrician trade category.
In Electronics Mechanic Trade, Mr. Piyush Kumar, OCT (T), Instrumentation & Automation, Mr. Raja Kalim, SOST, SSM and Mr. Satish Kumar Sahu, OCT, CEMwere the first, second and third prize winners at the competition.
Similarly in the Instrument Mechanics trade the first, second and third prize winners were Mr. Sagar Prasad Ojha, OCT, Instrumentation & Automation, Mr. Himanshu Nayak, OCT, Instrumentation & Automation and Mr. Ajit Behera, OCT, Instrumentation & Automation.
Mr. Dutimoy Mohanta, SOST, C&IT Mr. Laxmi Singh, DPA, C&IT and Mr. Abhishek Kumar, OCT, EMD bagged the first three awards in COPA trade category.
Mr. L Marandi, Senior Manager, HRD and Mr. A R Behera, Assistant Manager coordinated the programme.
