DMRC begins the construction work on Lajpat Nagar-Saket G Block Corridor

NEW DELHI. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) today commenced construction work on the all important Saket G Block- Lajpat Nagar corridor of Phase-IV. This is the first section beyond the Phase-IV’s priority corridors where physical work has been started.

The First Test Pile and Ground Breaking Ceremony on the Lajpat Nagar to Saket G-Block Corridor of the Golden Line (Line-11) was held at Pushpa Bhawan near Saket, marking a historic milestone in the expansion of Delhi’s metro network.

DMRC begins the construction work on Lajpat Nagar-Saket G Block CorridorThe occasion was graced by Dr. Vikas Kumar, MD/ DMRC and other senior officials from DMRC, along with officials from Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), the contractor for this section.

The Lajpat Nagar to Saket G-Block Corridor will be elevated and will comprise of 08 metro stations which are Lajpat Nagar, Andrews Ganj, GK-1, Chirag Delhi, Pushpa Bhawan, Saket District Centre, Pushp Vihar, Saket G Block.

This Golden Line corridor is a vital link in South Delhi, designed to enhance connectivity and provide seamless integration with existing metro lines. The first Test Pile symbolizes the beginning of major civil works, laying the foundation for this new metro corridor. This corridor will not only ease travel for lakhs of commuters but also strengthen the city’s sustainable transport infrastructure.

Important areas of south Delhi such as Greater Kailash-1, Saket, Greater Kailash, Pushp Vihar etc will be benefitted by this corridor. Many reputed schools, government offices etc will also have better Metro access after the completion of this line.

This corridor will seamlessly connect with the existing Magenta Line at Chirag Delhi, as well as the Violet and Pink Lines at Lajpat Nagar. With these linkages, Lajpat Nagar is set to emerge as a major interchange hub in South Delhi, becoming a triple interchange station that will provide commuters with improved connectivity and ease of travel across the capital’s metro network.

The other two corridors of phase-IV extension – Inderlok to Indraprastha and Rithala to Narela are also progressing with the tendering work and other preconstruction related activities.
