The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), under the mandate of the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA), has reviewed airfare trends in view of the upcoming festive season. The DGCA is tasked with monitoring airfares to ensure that passenger interests are protected, particularly during periods of high travel demand.
As part of this exercise, DGCA proactively engaged with domestic airlines to assess their preparedness and advised them to augment flight capacities by operating additional services to meet increased passenger demand.
In response, airlines have confirmed the following additional deployments:
- IndiGo:Approximately 730 additional flights across 42 sectors
- Air India & Air India Express:Approximately 486 additional flights across 20 sectors
- SpiceJet: Approximately 546 additional flights across 38 sectors
DGCA will continue to maintain close oversight of airfare levels and flight capacities during the festive period to ensure availability of seats at reasonable prices and to facilitate convenient travel for passengers.
