NEW DELHI. Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh has approved the grant of Miniratna (Category-I) status to Munitions India Limited (MIL), Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited (AVNL), and India Optel Limited (IOL) in recognition of their outstanding performance in enhancing turnover, maximizing indigenisation, and meeting key operational benchmarks. Notably, MIL achieved a remarkable over 200% sales growth—from ₹3,314 Cr in FY 2021–22 to a provisional ₹8,214 Cr in FY 2024–25—and exponential export growth to ₹3,081 Cr. AVNL also recorded a 190% rise in sales, reaching ₹4,946 Cr (provisional), while achieving 100% indigenisation of engines for T-72, T-90, and BMP-II platforms. Their core product portfolios include a wide range of ammunition, combat and support vehicles, and advanced defence mobility solutions, contributing significantly to India’s self-reliance in defence production.
