The Public Enterprises Selection Board has recommended Shri Deepak Gupta, currently serving as Director (Projects) at GAIL (India) Limited, for the position of Chairman and Managing Director of the company. Out of 12 senior professionals who appeared for the interview, Mr. Gupta emerged as the preferred candidate. He is expected to succeed the present CMD, who is set to retire on February 28, 2026.
An accomplished mechanical engineer from Delhi College of Engineering (now DTU) and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) from PMI, USA, Shri Gupta brings over 35 years of extensive experience in the oil and gas sector, with expertise in project management, construction, and business development across the hydrocarbon value chain. His leadership in executing large-scale infrastructure projects across various delivery models underscores his suitability for the role.
