A number of Safety training were held at Deeksha : Ispat Suraksha Kaushal Kendra of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant from 24th March to 26th March, 2025 for more than 100 contract workers from different units of the plant.
Training on Welding Safety was held on 24th March, 2025 in which 31 participants were present. 38 participants attended the awareness cum training program on Safe Conveyor Belt Operations on 25th March while 51 participants attended the training on Material Handling Safety held on 26th March.
The sessions covered different aspects like General Safety, precautions to be taken while dealing with Material Handling equipments, safety aspects and various Do’s and Don’ts of welding as well as while working on conveyor belt. Practical trainings on all the topics was also conducted in the working model provided in the centre.
The sessions were conducted by Mr. S R Gochhayat, Regional Directorate (DTNBWE under Ministry of Labour and Employment) and Mr. P P Patra, Assistant Manager, (SED). On completion of the training, Certificates issued by DTNBWE were presented to the participants.
The programme was coordinated by Mr. Vigyan Patra, Deputy Manager (HR- CLC) and HR-Contract Labour Cell collective under the guidance of Mr. Rajib Mukherjee, Senior Manager (HR-CLC).
It is to be mentioned here that the Centre aims at imparting training to contract workers and local populace for enriching skills towards eliminating unsafe practises at workplace. Along with the providing training, the purpose of the centre is also to develop a bank of skilled people in and around Rourkela with specialisation in Behavioural Safety.
