A brand-new Tata Hitachi made Chain Mounted Excavator was inaugurated at Raw Materials Handling Plant (RMHP) of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) by Mr. Alok Verma, Executive Director (Mines), with additional charge of ED (Works) on 18th October, 2024. Mr. SS Roychoudhury, CGM (RMHP), Mr. R N Rajendran, CGM (Mechanical), Mr. Abakash Mallick, GM In-Charge (Transport & FMM) and other senior officers of the plant were present on the occasion.
The new excavator is fitted with a Heavy Duty bucket of 0.91 cubic meter capacity and has an operating weight of 20,600 kilograms. This model comes equipped with a Prime AC cabin for enhanced operator comfort and efficiency. The machine was procured at a cost of around Rs. 48 lakhs through the GeM Portal.
The excavator is set to replace an earlier model that has been written off and will play a vital role in several operational tasks within RMHP. It will be utilized for a wide range of essential activities including housekeeping, clearing junction houses and bed tracks, and handling raw materials. Its introduction will significantly boost the overall housekeeping standards and operational efficiency of RMHP, supporting the plant’s growing production demands and enhancing productivity across various departments.
