Union Energy Minister Manohar Lal has said that the goal is to install 100 million smart electricity meters across the country, of which 10 million have already been installed. He was interacting with the media in Rohtak city of Haryana. He stated that the installation of smart meters will address consumer complaints. Consumers will be able to control their electricity usage and save electricity.
Responding to a question about the metro expansion, the Minister said that 1,100 kilometres of metro rail lines have been built in the country so far. India ranks third in the world in terms of metro rail and will soon achieve second place. He added that currently, metro services are available in 24 cities, and this facility will be available in 29 cities in the future.
