AMRAVATI. Bill Gates, Chairman of the Gates Foundation, visited the Real Time Governance Society (RTGS) Centre at the Andhra Pradesh Secretariat. During the visit, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu demonstrated how the state is utilizing a “Data Lake” architecture to interconnect government wings, enabling faster civic services and real-time decision-making. Gates expressed particular interest in the Sanjeevani project, a health initiative supported by his foundation, and praised the state’s use of AI and Blockchain technology to secure land records and monitor public health indicators like diabetes and blood pressure.
The visit also highlighted the state’s future-ready infrastructure and sustainable planning. Chief Minister Naidu briefed Gates on the “Swarna Andhra 2047” vision and the development of the new capital, Amaravati, which features a “30 percent green and blue” plan. Gates lauded these efforts, specifically noting the efficiency of the tax collection system and the innovative WhatsApp Governance model. Before concluding his visit, he emphasized the importance of making diagnostic services affordable for the poor and expressed satisfaction with the state’s progress in integrating technology with human-centric governance.
