BHU Muslim Sanskrit professor left to home

An assistant professor for Sanskrit at Banaras Hindu University’s Sanskrit Vidya Dharam Vigyan (SVDV) Firoze Khan returned to his native place in Jaipur as students of his department continued with their protest  Meanwhile, a section of students of the university came out in support of Khan.

Dr Firoze Khan had gone into hiding after joining at the registrar office. . However,  Head of Department (HoD) told  that Firoze has left for his hometown in Jaipur.

earlier Khan had expressed hope that the students will come around. he said  I was never made to realise I am a Muslim as i learned Sanskrit from childhood but now its getting controversial .

Meanwhile, a section BHU students came out openly in support of Firoze Khan for the first time. Holding banners with ‘We are with you Dr Firoze Khan’ written on it, the students marched from the university’s Lanka Gate to Ravidas Gate.

Actor and former BJP MP Paresh Rawal has also condemned the protest over the appointment of a Muslim professor in the Sanskrit faculty, saying he is “stunned by the protest” against Firoze Khan.

“Stunned by the protest against professor Feroze Khan. What has language to do with religion? Irony is professor Feroze has done his masters and PhD in Sanskrit (sic),” Paresh Rawal tweeted.in another tweet Paresh Rawal said : By same logic great singer late Shri Mohammad Rafi ji should not have sung any bhajans and Naushad Saab should not have composed it.”
