KOCHI. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for a ₹5,514 crore Polypropylene Plant at BPCL’s Kochi Refinery, marking a significant step in India’s petrochemical self-reliance. With a capacity of 400 KTPA, this unit is designed to strengthen the domestic polymer ecosystem and reduce reliance on imports.
During the event, which included various infrastructure inaugurations, the Prime Minister emphasized that modernizing petroleum companies is vital for the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission. The project is expected to spur downstream industrial growth in Kerala and create substantial local employment, furthering India’s sustainable industrial objectives.
