SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has been conferred with multiple awards in Global Environment Award 2025 at Global Clean Energy Summit 2025 held at New Delhi on 12th February, 2025. Mrs. Asha S Kartha, CGM (Fire Services & Safety), Mr. P C Dash, GM In-Charge (Environment Engineering), and Mr. Shivam Singh, Senior Manager (SP-III) received the Global Safety Award 2025 and Global Environment Award 2025 on behalf of RSP. Additionally, Mrs. Kartha was also conferred with Global HSE Woman Leader of the year award 2025 during the function. The awards came as a recognition of RSP’s outstanding endeavours in Environment Management and Safety in every aspect. The delegates received the award from Shri Ashok Lavasa, Former Election Commissioner of India in presence of Dr Ajay Mathur, Director General, International Solar Alliance.
It is noteworthy that RSP has been adopting state-of-the-art environment friendly steel making technologies, progressively, since inception. RSP also adheres to stringent monitoring and control standards through Online Effluent Quality Monitoring Systems (EQMS), with all online monitoring systems seamlessly integrated with the servers of both State Pollution Control Board and the Central Pollution Control Board. Continuing its commitment to environmental stewardship, RSP is actively pursuing an ambitious Zero Liquid Discharge project. On the safety front, RSP has carried out massive fire safety awareness through Road shows, Suraksha Raths, fire safety trainings etc. Various digital initiatives has been taken inside the plant to ensure a safe workplace for everyone. Emergency preparedness mock drills, human chain for road safety awareness, ANPR/RLVD system, etc are some other major initiatives of the Safety Engineering department.
