Ajit Pawars name is removed from NCP’s legislative group leader and Jayant Patil is the CLP in the official record of the Legislature Secretariat.
Legislative Secretary Rajendra Bhagwat has clarified that Ajit Pawar has no name on the legislature’s record. Therefore, Jayant Patil is the NCP’s legislative leader and he has the right to remove the whip.
Meanwhile, the legislature chooses the leader of the group, the party president or general secretary. The selection information has to be given to the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly or the Secretary of the Legislative Assembly within 30 days. The Governor and the Legislature are two separate constitutional bodies. In both places the group leader has to be informed. The Speaker of the Assembly does not know what information the NCP gave to the Governor. NCP did not inform the assembly that Ajit Pawar was selected. Therefore he cannot be considered as a legislative group leader.
Don’t be intimidated by Ajit Pawar’s threat – Sharad Pawar
NCP President Sharad Pawar had told the party MLAs that NCP’s election to the Legislative Group leader was communicated on Monday (November 25). Accordingly, Jayant Patil will be the leader of the group. Therefore only Jayant Patil or who he has chosen as Pratod will be the Whip official. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has no right to remove the whip. Those who feel that the position will go away. They should not worry. NCP President Sharad Pawar had on Monday told the party MLAs that he would take responsibility for them.
BJP claimed that Ajit Pawar was the leader of NCP’s legislative group. Therefore, if Ajit Pawar plays the whip the others has to follow or they will lose membership.
On other side Shiv Sena-Congress-NCP conducted a rigorous exercise on Monday. The three parties submitted a letter to the Governor with the support of 162 MLAs. The MLAs were then sworn in at the Grand Hyatt five-star hotel in the evening. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut has made a suggestive tweet. Sanjay Raut wrote in his tweet titled ‘Weight and Watch’.
