Mr. Tarun Misra, the former Executive Director (HR) of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) who superannuated from the company’s service on 31st August, 2026 was accorded fond farewells in different functions.
In a programme held at the ‘Manthan’ Conference Hall on 31st August, Mr. Alok Verma, Director In-Charge (DIC), RSP handed over Service Certificate and token gifts to Mr. Misra. Mr. B K Giri, ED (Mines Development-CMLO), Mr. B R Palai, ED (Works), Mr. Anil Kumar, ED (MM), Mr. M P Singh, ED (Mines), Mr. S Pal Chowdhury, ED (Projects), Dr. J K Acharya, CMO In-charge (M&HS), Mr. Rajesh Dasgupta, CGM In-Charge (F&A) with additional charge of ED (F&A) and a large number Chief General Managers of RSP were present on the occasion.
Mr. Vigyan Patra, Deputy Manager (HR-OD) coordinated the programme under the guidance of Mr. R K Verma, GM In-charge (HR-L&D & OD).
Another grand farewell function was held at Hotel Deepti on the same day evening in which the Executives of the Steel Plant bade adieu to Mr. Tarun Misra, and Mrs. Pravati Misra, Vice President, Deepika Mahila Sanghati.
Mr. Alok Verma, Mrs. Namrata Verma, President, Deepika Mahila Sanghati, Mr. B K Giri, Mr. B R Palai, Mr. Anil Kumar, Mr. M P Singh, Mr. S Palchowdhury, and all Vice Presidents of Deepika Mahila Sanghati, namely Mrs. Smita Giri, Dr. (Mrs.) Pratijna Palai, Mrs. Bandana Singh, Mrs. Reeta Rani, Mrs. Nabanita Palchowdhury, adorned the dais and felicitated Mrs. and Mr. Misra.
The DIC presented the scroll of honour highlighting Mr. Misra’s illustrious career. The scroll was read by Mr. Subrat Kumar, CGM (HSMs and AUXs).
In his address, Mr. Alok Verma, described Mr. Misra as a very brilliant, and courageous officer, who never shied away from taking tough decision. “Mr. Misra’s straight forward nature and ability to take instant decisions have been a guiding force for his juniors,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion, an emotional Mr. Tarun Misra, reminisced his childhood and young days as well as early days in professional career at Durgrapur Steel Plant and Iisco Steel Plant, that shaped his personality. Reiterating his belief on empowering the juniors and providing the right opportunity to the right person at the right time, Mr. Misra said that he is leaving SAIL with lot of optimism that the Company will grow tremendously in the future days on the dint of its very talented human resources. “I had an extraordinary 37-year long journey in SAIL and memories of a lifetime. I am leaving the company on retirement, but I can never retire from the love, the bonding and the trust I have received here,” said Mr. Tarun Misra in his concluding remarks.
The function commenced with screening of a captivating film on Mr. Misra’s life and achievements prepared by Public Relations Department, setting the stage for an evening soaked with nostalgic memories. Mr. Manas Rath, CGM (HR) delivered the welcome address while Mr. T G Kanekar, CGM (TS& CSR) proposed a formal vote of thanks.
Ms. Sangeeta M Sindur, AGM (HR) and Ms. Divya Sahu, Assistant Manager (HR) were the masters of ceremony. The function ended with a beautiful musical programme.
Before bidding adieu to RSP, Mr. Misra interacted with a large number of employees under the HR functions on different occasions. An interaction session was held at Samadhan Conferencehall on 31st August, in which more than 60 employees including executives interacted with Mr. Misra. He also met the employees of Town Engineering & Horticulture earlier in the day. Earlier, on 28th August, 2026 a similar programme was held at Town Services office where he interacted with the employees and executives of Town Services & CSR.
