NTPC Bongaigaon recently organized a comprehensive awareness session to educate its workforce on the New Labour Laws and recent statutory reforms. The program was conducted by Shri Nirmal Chandra Kar, Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner (Central), Guwahati, who served as the primary resource person. During the session, he explained the key provisions of the new labour codes, focusing on their implications for employers, contractors, and workers regarding safety, welfare measures, and statutory compliance. Shri Amit Kumar Asthana, Head of HR, opened the event by reaffirming the organization’s commitment to inclusive workplace practices and labour welfare, while the session saw active participation from Engineers-in-Charge, contract workers, and department heads.
Emphasizing the importance of these reforms, Shri Arnab Maitra, Head of Project at NTPC Bongaigaon, highlighted that adhering to statutory norms is essential for effective implementation across all levels of the project. This sentiment was echoed by Shri Anurag Gupta, General Manager (O&M), who noted that labour law compliance is a critical factor in maintaining operational safety, high productivity, and the smooth functioning of large industrial establishments. By bringing together senior officials and workers to discuss the practical aspects of the new codes, the initiative reinforced the plant’s focus on capacity building and fostering a transparent, compliant, and safe work environment for everyone involved.
