NEW DELHI: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah informed the Lok Sabha that the Centre is significantly scaling up support for women-led cooperative societies to drive inclusive economic growth. By establishing a dedicated Ministry of Cooperation, the government is focusing on empowering women in sectors like dairy, agriculture, and handicrafts through capacity building and financial aid.
A key highlight is “White Revolution 2.0,” which aims to create 75,000 new dairy cooperatives. Additionally, the NCDC is implementing specialized schemes: Swayam Shakti Sahakar for income generation, Nandini Sahakar for dairy and food processing, and Yuva Sahakar, which offers interest subventions to young women entrepreneurs. These initiatives are designed to enhance rural livelihoods, generate employment, and ensure women play a central role in India’s cooperative ecosystem.
