BILASPUR. The Gevra Open Cast Project, operated by South Eastern Coalfields Limited achieved a record coal production of 3,07,716 tonnes in a single day on March 15, 2026. This milestone is among the highest single-day outputs in India’s coal mining history and further strengthens Coal India’s position as the world’s largest coal producer.
Located in the Korba Coalfield, the Gevra mine is one of Asia’s largest open-cast coal mines. The achievement was made possible through efficient mine planning, round-the-clock operations, advanced monitoring systems, and the coordinated efforts of engineers, machine operators, and staff using high-capacity mining equipment. The record production will support coal supply to thermal power plants and key industries across India.
