KOKLATA. Arvind Kumar, Director (Refineries) at IndianOil and SCOPE Executive Board Member, delivered the opening address at a high-level workshop in Kolkata. Organized by SCOPE with MoEFCC and GIZ, the event featured key officials from the German Consulate and Ministry of Environment.
Kumar highlighted that as the world’s third-largest energy consumer, India’s energy demand will rise 30% by 2035. He emphasized the critical role of Public Sector Enterprises, which contribute 12% to the national GDP, in leading industrial decarbonization. Kumar noted that navigating the complexities of hard-to-abate sectors requires balancing energy security with affordability. He called for cross-sectoral collaboration to effectively scale low-carbon solutions and strengthen India’s evolving energy landscape.
