Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (PVUNL), a subsidiary of NTPC in joint venture with JBVNL, has successfully completed the 72-hour trial operation of its Phase-I, 3×800 MW power project’s Unit #1 on October 16, 2025, marking a significant milestone in strengthening Jharkhand’s power infrastructure and advancing India’s energy goals. Laid by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on May 25, 2018, the project aims to enhance energy self-reliance and support economic growth in Jharkhand. The milestone was witnessed by key officials including CEO Shri A.K. Sehgal, who highlighted PVUNL’s commitment to delivering approximately 85% of its power to Jharkhand, utilizing advanced technologies such as ultra-supercritical systems, dry ash utilization, and air-cooled condensers for sustainability and environmental conservation. The successful trial underscores the collective efforts of PVUNL, NTPC, the Jharkhand government, and stakeholders, paving the way for full commissioning of the 3×800 MW project, which is expected to significantly boost the state’s energy availability and support industrial development.
