NEW DELHI. Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said India has become the world’s third-largest consumer of oil and LPG, with 10.6 crore households using LPG and 6.7 crore people refuelling vehicles daily. He highlighted India’s rising refining capacity, now at 258 MMTPA, and Jamnagar’s status as Asia’s largest refinery exporting to over 100 countries. Under the OALP Round 10, 2.5 lakh sq km has been opened for exploration, attracting $1.3 billion in upstream investments. Puri also noted renewed global interest in the Andaman basin, which holds strong hydrocarbon potential.
