As a part of the ongoing labour welfare and safety initiatives, a Workmen Rest Shed cum Safety Function Hall was inaugurated at the Coke Oven Battery-7 (COB#7) project site of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP). Mr. Abakash Behera, GM (Safety), RSP, inaugurated the facility in the presence of Mr. K.K. Patra, GM (Project), RSP, Mr. G R Das, GM (HR), RSP and Mr. Gokulan S, Project Manager (L&T). The programme was attended by a large number of personnel associated with the project.
In his address, Mr. Behera appreciated the initiative of L&T in promoting safety and urged all to remain vigilant and follow safe work practices to achieve the goal of “Zero Harm.”
Mr. Patra congratulated L&T for maintaining a zero-accident record so far and called for sustained focus on 100% safety compliance till project completion.
Mr. Das commended the welfare measures, advising workmen to use the rest shed responsibly and avail health check-ups at RSP’s Medical Centre.
Mr. Gokulan thanked RSP management for their support and reiterated L&T’s commitment to ensuring workplace safety and welfare.
The programme began with a welcome address by Mr. N.K. Dhal, In-charge, EHS, L&T, followed by the Safety Pledge. A pocket booklet titled ‘Project EHS Training Passport’ was also launched, and copies were distributed to the workmen. Mr. Dhal further introduced the “Hot Ball Game”, an initiative to minimise unsafe behaviour and raise safety awareness, which was launched by the dignitaries on the dais.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Dipankar Sarkar, In-charge-Planning, L&T, followed by the National Anthem. Mr. Satish Pattanaik, In-charge, Administration & Accounts coordinated the programme.
