RISHIKESH. THDC India Limited (THDCIL), a premier PSU in the power sector, celebrated its 38th Foundation Day with enthusiasm and pride at its Corporate Office in Rishikesh and across all project and unit offices nationwide. The day highlighted not only THDCIL’s remarkable journey since its inception in 1988 but also a year of significant milestones in clean and sustainable energy development.
The celebrations began with a flag hoisting ceremony by Shri R. K. Vishnoi, Chairman and Managing Director, followed by a ceremonial lamp lighting along with the Directors – Shri Shallinder Singh (Personnel), Shri Bhupender Gupta (Technical), and Shri Sipan Kumar Garg (Finance). Addressing the gathering, Shri Vishnoi said, “Foundation Day is not just a celebration of legacy, but a reaffirmation of our vision to be at the forefront of energy excellence and nation building.”
Highlighting the year’s major achievements, Shri Vishnoi lauded the commissioning of the first two units (250 MW each) of India’s first Variable Speed Pumped Storage Plant (PSP) at Tehri. “This is not just a technological feat, but a leap towards energy sustainability and grid flexibility for our nation,” he said. He also emphasized the successful commissioning of
Unit-1 (660 MW) of the Khurja Super Thermal Power Project, which was recently dedicated to the nation by the Hon’ble Prime Minister. “With Khurja, we’ve expanded our footprint into thermal energy, ensuring energy diversification for a secure future,” he added.
Acknowledging the collective efforts of the THDCIL family, Shri Vishnoi stated, “Our people are the driving force behind every milestone. Their dedication and unity define the spirit of THDCIL.” He commended the Board of Directors for their visionary leadership, stating that “the growth of any organization is deeply rooted in the commitment of its leadership team,” and individually appreciated the contributions of all three Directors.
As part of the celebrations, THDCIL honored employees and their families for excellence in various domains. Prestigious recognitions included the Naman Award to former CMD Shri D. V. Singh for his visionary leadership, and Gaurav Awards to senior executives for outstanding service. Numerous employees across executive, supervisory, and workmen categories were also felicitated for their dedication and performance.
The day also featured vibrant cultural performances by employees and their families, showcasing the unity and talent within the organization. The celebrations reflected THDCIL’s inclusive culture, strategic direction, and unwavering focus on India’s energy transformation journey.
